ALAA Breeder Member News!

Dear ALAA Breeder Members,

We have a few things to communicate to you at this time:

First, we want to let you know of three changes to be made to the
ALAA Registry:

The dog named Lord of the Dance will be changed from Poodle
to Irish Water Spaniel.  This change corrects Tegan Park Giggle Man to an IWS/Poodle cross.

The dog known as Chichitta will be changed to Australian Labradoodle. We are working on correcting Chichitta's ancestors' breed designations.

These changes agree with the records of the ALA.

Second, we have passed a motion to limit the number of breeding dogs
produced by any single infusion dog. The motion is worded as follows:

Limit the number of Cockapoo Breeder Offspring allowed to a maximum
number of six for the life of the Cockapoo. Transferring the Cockapoo
to another breeder does not reset the count. The Cockapoo may
continue to produce pet litters, but all puppies must be desexed. A
litter of Pet Quality Puppies is allowed with a Submission of Notice
Application prior to breeding.  Part 3 of the Infusion Application
must be submitted, and all requirements in it must be met.

The purpose of this motion is to reduce "Popular Sire Syndrome",
which narrows genetic diversity and increases the frequency of
detrimental genes carried by the popular sire.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

ALAA Board
