ALAA Infusion Breeding Policy & Guidelines
These guidelines are in effect as of March 4, 2009.
Breeder members were notified earlier this year that all infusion approvals were on hold until the new guidelines were finalized. If during this time you have purchased a cockapoo in hopes to have it approved with the ALAA, those dogs will fall under the new and current guidelines and not be approved under previous guidelines. If you had purchased a cockapoo before the announcement that infusion approvals were on hold, your cockapoo will be considered under the existing guidelines at that time. Proof of purchase date must be provided to the Infusion Committee when your dog is submitted.
The Infusion Committee will approve or deny Cockapoos based on all information presented. The Infusion Committee will approve or deny requests to breed Cockapoo x Labradoodle infusion litters based on the qualities of the two dogs presented. It is the goal of the ALAA to only allow breedings to take place that will bring the best qualities to the Australian Labradoodle lines.
Breeder Requirements:
- You must have no less than 18 months of prior ALAA accredited breeder membership before undertaking a Cockapoo infusion mating/application
- You must have bred no less than four Australian Labradoodle litters under the ALAA. This is to ensure that you are able to easily identify the qualities essential to the Australian Labradoodle.
Application Part I - Cockapoo Registration:
- Fill out the Cockapoo Registration Application Part I
- Pay $25 Application fee
- Submit essay outlining reasons for Parent Breed infusion (Please list the qualities the dog possess and what improvements it will bring to the breed.)
- Conformation photos of dog from both front and side. Stacked photos of dogs being presented for infusion approval must be taken of the dog in a very short hair cut between 1/2" to 1" in length. If the photos submitted do not show the dog's conformation well enough, they will be rejected and new photos will be requested.
- Submit permanent identification of dog
- Submit pedigree of dog. (All Cockapoos must be pure breed provable from a recognized registry i.e( AKC, UKC,CKC etc... )
- All applicable fees must be paid to the ALAA registrar for dog registration if dog is approved
Application Part II - Parent Breed Approval: (To be submitted prior to breeding dog).
- Fill out Parent Breed Application Part II

- Hip testing
- Elbow testing

Application Part III - Breeding/Pairing Approval: (Required for all Labradoodle X Cockapoo Infusion litters. ALL breedings with an approved infusion dog must be approved, even repeat pairings.)
- Part A of Application Process (Must be submitted BEFORE a litter is bred. All pairing requests must be sent in a minimum of 30 days before the expected heat cycle. Last minute pairing requests may result in the board automatically rejecting the request if sufficient time to assess the pairing is not available. )
- Submit information on the Labradoodle you are seeking approval to breed to an approved Cockapoo. This includes health testing info, pedigree, photos.
- Submit information on the Cockapoo being requested for approval in this pairing.
- Submit explanation as to why this infusion litter has value and should be considered for approval into the Australian Labradoodle lines.
- Part B of Application Process (Must be submitted no later than 8 weeks from the DOB of the litter to allow for review. Litter registration is due at 12 weeks of age.)
- Only three puppies are allowed to be kept entire from a litter. All others must be spayed/neutered prior to being placed as pets and no later than 12 weeks of age.
- Submit photos of all puppies kept entire. Include both front and side views. Must be submitted to the Infusion Committee by 12 weeks of age.
- Submit permanent ID on all puppies in the litter.
- Submit spay/neuter certificates for puppies not retained as potential breeders.
- Register the litter with the appropriate paperwork and submit all normal fees for the registration process.
- The number of Cockapoo Breeder Offspring allowed is a maximum number of six for the life of the Cockapoo. Transferring the Cockapoo to another breeder does not reset the count. The Cockapoo may continue to produce pet litters, but all puppies must be desexed. A litter of Pet Quality Puppies is allowed with a Submission of Notice Application prior to breeding. Part 3 of the Infusion Application must be submitted, and all requirements met. ( Rule implemented 7-28-09)

NOTES:
- All generations of cockapoos will be considered for infusion approval.
- The health testing for each dog presented for pairing approval must meet or exceed Gold Paw testing requirements. This applies to both the cockapoo and the labradoodle.
- All puppies not being retained as potential breeders must be desexed at or before 12 weeks and prior to leaving the breeder's care.
- No Parent Breed Infusion Dog may be used to develop new lines of Australian Labradoodles within the ALAA without completing the Infusion Application and Breeding/Pairing Process. The Parent Infusion Dog will be expected to meet the rules in place at the time of application or permission will be denied.
- Any breeder who undertakes an infusion litter without the approval of the Infusion Committee will have that litter denied registration with the ALAA and will be fined accordingly.
- Please note that at this time Labradoodles with Cocker ancestry bred in programs of non-ALAA members are not registerable with the ALAA.
